Earthbutter necklace with 'marble' beads
Unfired Earthbutter Marble pendants
We made pendants this morning using terracotta clay dug from Wellington soil and white earthenware clay from our Cape Town supplier. The process is very similar to 'mokume game', a jewellery technique where metal sheets are fused together into a laminated block. Clay 'mokume game' is of course a much cheaper version of the precious metal lamination process. The result of our clay 'mokume game' technique is clay looking like marble. I absolute love the clay marble look and can't wait to see the end result once they're fired and glazed.
