Back home from Las Vegas

I'm back home and recovering from jet lag after a very long flight from Atlanta to Johannesburg (17 hours).  Our group of 16 craft producers from different regions in South Africa were sponsored by the Department of Trade & Industry to take part in ASD Las Vegas, a very large consumer trade show.  Even though we were dwarfed by booths selling mass produced goods (mostly from China), it was worthwhile travelling so far to participate in the show.

Gondola at the Venetian Hotel (this is Las Vegas!)
In general, the public seemed to be surprised and even delighted to 'discover' the South African pavillion amidst the mass produced products offered by our neighbours.   I felt proudly South African!  Our products spoke of authenticity - honest, true art from the southern tip of Africa.

Las Vegas is a fun city and even though we were tired to the bone, we hopped onto the monorail every night and enjoyed all the entertainment and shopping on the Strip.
