Our first order for 2013 - 3000 ceramic discs for a South African jewellery
manufacturer - thats a LOT of discs!!!!!
I carved these little birdies for a customer in Venice, Italy and had loads of fun!
Angelico carefully painted glaze onto the bisque fired birdie. After glazing, the birdies were fired to 1 100 degrees Celsius (2 012 Fahrenheit) in my pottery kiln. Firing takes about 8 hours and the kiln has to be cooled down slowly which usually takes about 12 hours. Opening the kiln is always a 'wow' moment for me and I absolutely love going to the studio when I know there's a kiln waiting for me to open it!
